Miniature de Jeanne d’Arc (Joan of Arc) 1450-1500
Origin: France. Centre Historique des Archives Nationales, Paris, AE II 249.
Painted by the founder and developer of this web project Søren Bie.
One of the earliest known paintings of Saint Joan of Arc (Jeanne d’Arc), from the 15th century. Here she is shown in her armour along with the famous banner and sword. Little is known about this famous scene painted later after her death. The painter has, for example dyed her hair reddish. We know it was black.
There is no time-accurate images of Jeanne. We know she has sat model for a painting while she lived: Read more
This well-known Jeanne d’Arc motif is hand-painted as a small exclusive series / reproduction of a total of 9 paintings with this specific motif. They can be purchased via my website www.scriptorium.dk for a fair price. All scriptorium images are created as an artistic interpretation. They are not 100% exact replica of the original image, but it is very close.
When you buy one of my works of art, you support me as a developer of this project, as well as as an artist, so hopefully one day I will make a living from it, and maybe be able to work with this full time.
Thank you.
